Random Monday Picture!!!

WEll SLIDE SHOW.... Like Gaby said in the last post, I do got photos of the remodeling in Action...Enjoy!!!!

Gabbing with Geefunk

I don't have any gossip either. Seems that since our Easter get together no one has had any "fun." Although I did get a few comments about the few I singled out. I'm just bustin' your chops guys!

G and I were in Vegas this weekend and got to see our awesome cousin Gerardo. What's new with him? He got Lasik and has braces! Congrats to you G! And I can share this news because his mom knows already. ;)

G and I saw "Mystere" by Cirque du Soleil. It was awesome and we recommend it to any family wanting to see a show.

Back in Cali, the Vega's have completely remodeled their kitchen and it looks awesome! I'm sure Rob and his fancy new Canon Rebel TI digital camera have some shots they could share.

As Adee-doo mentioned, congrats to Lola for the great results from her doctor! And remember, please do not wait till the last minute to see a doctor. Know your body and if anything "unusual" pops up go see a doctor!

Cathy is thisclose to leaving Fuller! She is at her psychological exam as I type and then she has a medical exam. If [and she will] passes, she will begin her employment at the South Pasadena Police Department! Congrats Cat! We all know you'll pass. It's the end of an era here at Fuller. Chris, Chavo, and I will miss you.

I want to get a couple of things from all of you like your favorite movie, book, t.v show, sport, sport team, food, restaurant, place to travel, etc. Just to make some family favorites list on the side columns to fill them up a little more.

Y Ese Milagro Que Me Dejo Ver?

I figured I would give you guys some time to miss me.

So apparently, from the gaps in our blog, no one wants to post. I don't have any gossip. I wish I did but I've been too busy being sick. I've been waking up with crusty nostrils. I kinda like picking my nose-hole open. Do any of you remember our cousin Alex how every morning he would wake up with crust-shut eyes? He even had to go to school like that and with time, his eyes would open back up. LOL. Sorry cuz, but thats some funny stuff.

Apparently Dolores and I like to pee with the door open. I like that, its so much more comfortable in there with the door open.

Speaking of Dolores, she got her results today and they were negativo on cancer so that's good news. We continue to be a healthy family.

Speaking of family, I always think of our relatives who aren't involved much. Such as Jorge. Things have change and they will continue to change and what are we doing? We look away because what we don't see, we don't know and we don't feel. Sometimes reaching out such as a phone call or a surprise visit makes a difference. We would hate it if we got "there" and said "I wish I would had ____". Accept, love and instill self-worth. It's not that hard.

Adeedodoo loves her family

Que Pasa Calabaza!!!!!

Lo primero, primero.
El 'anonimo' no soy yo. Cuando he querido decir algo siempre me he identificado como 'your favorite uncle'.
Your favorite uncle

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR GRANDMA

Celebrating her 88th birthday today is our one and only grandmother! I spoke to her early this morning to wish her a happy birthday and I asked her what she would like for her grandchildren to give her for her big day. She said that all she wants is for us to pray that her pain from her recent fall goes away. Apparently, while she was sleeping she turned over in her twin size bed and just like "the old man snoring" song, she fell over. Chivalry still exists past 80 years old as our grandfather quickly rushed to her aid. So take a moment to call the grandmother and wish her a very happy birthday.

EASTER REUNION

Enjoy pictures of the Easter Reunion this past Sunday, most taken by Robert, as I suck as photography, but was the only one with a camera. P.S Be careful what you are doing in the next family reunion, because you never know where the camera might be.

Need To Update.....

We need to update the events so if you guys know of any birthdays coming up or birthday parties or just parties or family events let me know

Thanks

Gabbing with Geefunk

Happy Monday party people! I commented on the post below that I felt this blog was becoming too historical and not enough gossip. So in an effort to not just complain, I will try to contribute to the gossip factor in this blog. After all, it's not named a "gossip blog" for nothing. Us Gonzalez know how to gossip! And since this is a gossip blog, there will be no stone left unturned!

There have been many discussions on the great dilemma of "to post or not to post." The other authors on this blog seem to be afraid to post all the real family gossip! Well guess what folks, if Gonzalez is part of your name, then you won't be safe! I will say one thing - fear not folks. I won't provide any details on secret rendezvous or disclose anything said in "confidence."

In this official 1st installment of "Gabbing with Geefunk" I will throw out some questions and rumors that were over heard during this weekends Easter festivities at the Lugo Residence. This might be a tame post.

- The 1st and most important rumor overheard was the "Tias" discussing a fall our grandmother had in Tepetongo. From what we could hear, she fell off her bed in her sleep! Don't be alarmed folks, seems all is well. But maybe we can all pitch in to get her a bigger bed [and a bigger room while we're at it]? Just a thought.

- Also over heard was constant chatter on the fact that Baby Noah [Christy's son] has been held captive by his "other" grandparents [or Christy's in-laws]! As most of us know, Christy is doing some desert training for 2 months. This means Baby Noah is splitting time between both sets of grandparents. However, the guardianship papers only list Cecy and the in-laws. Because of this the in-laws have decided to not allow Tola and Tarcisio to pick up little Noah to come visit us! The Horror! I know! Tola has been advised to stop asking for permission to pick up her grandson! This is ludicrous! Instead she should just call and let them know when she will be there and to have him ready. What do you think?

- Can anyone explain why Chris has been MIA from family gatherings [particularly those at the Lugo Residence]. And if he does show up it's only because he was persuaded by another cousin. Hmmm...what did the Lugo's do to Chris?
***I suppose if I'm going to call out Chris, then I should also call out the entire Gonzalez-Correa Clan. Too cool for school?
****And...again...if I'm gonna be calling anyone out then it should be the Lugo brother's who hardly ever show up to anything that doesn't start with the words "Christmas" and "Thanksgiving." [Marcelo excluded]

- And speaking of my co-workers....does Cathy have a secret "male friend?" Hmmm....maybe soon we'll see him at a family gathering. What's next on the list? 4th of July? No! Mother's Day! And don't be jealous folks. She's living up the single life! More power to you Cat!

- We're also hearing speculation that the infamous "anonymous" blogger could be Lupito. Why remain anonymous? What's there to hide?

- And the last little rumor making the rounds is that Nancy & Robert might be going skydiving in the near future! Fun! Let me know when guys and I'll be there to cheer you on!

Enough for now. Catch you all on the flip side!

A Thought for Inspiration and a History Lesson

Did you know that great people DO come from Tepetongo? Does Julian Nava ring a bell to any of you? Well, he should and if not ask your parents (Julio is homies with him). He has been a civil rights and equal education advocate and has been a prime figure in many U.S. Hispanic triumphs. His parents were born in Tepetongo but migrated to Los Angeles (Boyle Heights to be exact) during the same time our Grandfather came to the U.S. During the Los Angeles Economic Depression in 1930 the Repatriation Program that was designed to deport all immigrants (this is when employers began to ask for citizenship) forced his family to pack up their belongings and return to Tepetongo but on the way to the train Julian's appendix ruptured and needed emergency surgery. That forced the family to stay in L.A. which was not a bad idea considering his future to come. So you ask what's the big deal with Julian Nava?
Time Line:
1927 - He was born
1945 - joined the Naval Air Corps he then returned from duty and enrolled in East L.A. Community College. He then transferred to Cal Poly Pomona which he was one of 4 students with a Spanish surname. Then he received his Ph.D in History from Harvard, again one of the first Mexican-Americans to attend college (his GI Bill helped him financially).
1955 - He taught in Puerto Rico for 2 years
1957 - Professor at Cal State Northridge
1967 - Member of the Los Angeles Board of Education (1st Hispanic ever). He was a board member for 12 years and president. He dealt with the famous East L.A. school walkouts in 1968. He was really good friends with Sal Castro, the Lincoln High School teacher who inspired the students to fight against inferior education and discrimination against Latinos. During this time he was also a catalyst in the National Hispanic Scholarship Fund. He fought for higher education and began to give away scholarships with his own money. His election to office also stimulated the Chicano Movement. Another accomplishment during office was his idea and implementation of the "Concentrated Learning Centers" in which the name was changed to how we know them now. Magnet Schools.
1980 - U.S. Ambassador to Mexico (1st Hispanic EVER). Jimmy Carter personally contacted him to offer the position.
1993 - Ballbearer for Cesar Chavez (they were homies. Him and Cesar were part of the CSO and then parted away as Cesar began his United Farm Workers)
1993 - He attempted to run for major of L.A. (to become the first Hispanic ever) but was not elected.

Julian now lives in San Diego with his family. He did return to Tepetongo, as my mom remembers, to give back to the school (the one in front of El Jardin) by buying new desks, chairs and some painting.

Be proud of your roots. Acknowledge our history and the people that have paved the way for our own success.

"I have been reproducing myself and paying back the help others gave to me along the road to college teaching"
-Julian Nava
